Goole MP Andrew Percy visited pupils at Goole Academy recently to share his knowledge, experiences and help their learning.

The politician spoke with pupils in years 7 and 8 to find out about what they have been learning in recent weeks and the pupils were given the opportunity to quiz Mr Percy about some of the things they have been studying.

Mr Percy said: “Year 8 were looking at oracy and the importance of speaking and wanted to ask me some questions about how I put a speech together and what famous speeches of the past have inspired me. We had a really good discussion and the questions were fab. “The same goes for Year 7 who I also met with to discuss the importance of reading and books. I am passionate about improving literacy skills locally so it was a delight to wax lyrical with pupils on this subject.” The MP also took the opportunity to praise the school for its improvements in recent years saying “this was demonstrated by the well behaved, well turned out and engaged pupils I met”.
